SPI 0807.5.2 Adaptation SPI 0807.5.3 Variation Bellwork: Adaptation RAFT Sept 28, 2012 • (1)Today we are going to start class with a writing assignment called a R.A.F.T. • R=Role, A=Audience, F=Format, T=topic • Role: You are a scientist digging up fossils • Audience: You are writing a letter to your family about what you have discovered • Format: Informal letter (At least 12 sentences long) • Topic: Over the last 12 months you have been digging up horse fossils in sedimentary rock. In the top level of sediment you find horse skeletons nearly identical to modern horses. As you dig down deeper into the levels you find the horse skeletons get smaller and smaller. Describe this to your family and explain why. 1
