  7. Parent Communication Communication with you is very important to me and I feel that it is one of the most essential parts of your child’s education. My office hours are 8:45-9:45 and I will check email during this time. Email: tavonholten@bluevalleyk12.org

  8. Student Assistance Students may see me for extra help from 7:45 to 8:15 on Mondays, Wednesday, and Thursdays, or Monday through Thursday after school. No appointment is necessary. The exception is weeks when I have afternoon bus duty, and even then they can get help if they are willing to wait.

  9. Homework • Kids are required to write in planner from • homework board each night • Part of homework is getting planner signed • each night, Mon- Friday. • Students can have up to 60 minutes nightly • Check on Synergy for missing work. • Check my website regularly for homework/news(CPE homepage, classrooms, 5th grade, Tim vonHolten)

  10. Class Dojo Students will earn points toward grade level rewards. For example, lunch in the classroom and an end of 9-week special activity. Positive Dojo Points Class job On Task Compliments Helping Others Participating Quality Work Team Work Responsibility Negative Dojo Points Disrespect to others or property Improper heading on paper Missing work Not Following Directions Out of seat Off Task Disrupting Class Unprepared Planner not signed Messy desk and cubby Inappropriate drill behavior

  11. Snack/Birthday Treats • Healthy snack at 9:45 daily • Birthday treats are optional • We have students with severe nut allergies. Please refer to the CPE website (or mine) for snack/treat guidelines. • Please send in serving supplies with birthday treats. • There are 19 kids in the class. • Extras are left in the teacher’s lounge

Miscellaneous • Field Trips- Wilderness Science Center, Topeka Statehouse, Ernie Miller Nature Center • 5th grade privileges (Safety Patrol, Broadcast Announcements, Band, Strings, Leadership Team) * All students must maintain acceptable grade level to participate. • Keep extra sweatshirt in locker • Keep extra deodorant in book bag • PE shoes are NOT to be kept at school • Confidentiality Policy
