  2. Location • The Democratic Republic of the Congo is located at 0 00 N, 25 00 E. • It is in Africa and is south of the C.A.R and east of the republic of Congo.

  3. Physical Geography • The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s vegetation is mostly tropical grassland and broad leaf evergreen forest.

  4. Economic Activity Resource Regions • Tin Region • Copper belt • Savannah and Agriculture • Jungle Major Industries • Mining • Mineral Processing • Consumer Products GDP: $300 (2008 est.) Oil consumption: 11,000 bl/day (2008 est.)

  5. Government • Government type: Semi-Presidential Republic • Current Leaders: President- Joseph Kabila Prime Minister- AdolpheMuzito Voting Age: 18 Constitution was passed on February 18, 2006

  6. Current Events • 1,400 Congolese people were killed between January and September because a rebel Hutu group suspected them of being involved in the 1994 Rwanda genocide. People like these are being targeted by the Hutu rebel group.

  8. Colonization Belgium colonized the DRC The DRC gained their Independence on June 30, 1960
