  1. A day at the farm

  2. Today is Saturday, and Mark and Tania have no school. Mark decides to play some games on the computer and Tania brings her toys to Mark’s room.

  3. Mother comes in, and says that today is a very fine day. She asks the children if they like to visit Uncle Fred’s farm. The children like mum’s idea and shout with joy.Tania runs to her room to get ready and in a short time Mark is ready too.

  4. Yuppie!!! Hurray!!!

  5. Father gets the car out of the garage. Mark and Tania sit on the back seat. Father sits next to Mum, as today she is driving to Uncle Fred’s farm.

  6. He does not live very far away, so they soon find themselves in front of the farm.

  7. Uncle Fred is waiting for them near the gate of his fields. When they arrive he take them straight away to see the animals.

  8. Tania runs and goes near the hens. Uncle Fred gives her some corn to feed them. Tania tries to catch a chicken. She likes to hold a chicken. Mark helps Uncle Fred to collect the eggs.

  9. “Come and see the cows and their babies!” shouts Mark. “A baby cow is called ‘a calf’ says Uncle Fred. “Cows live in a shed. They eat grass and they give us milk.”

  10. Now Uncle Fred takes the children to see the pigs. There are piglets, too.

  11. Tania and Mark have some apples, and they give some of them to the big pigs. “This big pig likes apples,” he says. “He wants more now.”

  12. The horses come out of the stables. Mark looks at the brown horse. “I love horses! Tania loves them too,” he says

  13. “You can have a ride on one of them if you like, Mark,”says Uncle Fred. Tania can have a ride after you.”

  14. Suddenly they hear the dog barking. The children run to play with the dog. Pat comes out of the kennel and goes near the children. Sam, the puppy comes out too.

  15. Tipsy, the cat is sleeping with her three kittens. They like to sleep in the sun.

  16. The children are tired. Tania sits on a small rock and Mark sleeps on the grass.

  17. Mum and Dad say that it is time for a cup of tea and some cakes. Uncle Fred prepares the tea and the cakes. Soon, it will be time to go home.

  18. “I like these cakes,” says Tania. “They are delicious!” “May I have another one?” asks Mark. “Of course you can.” I prepared them while you were having a rest,”says Uncle Fred.

  19. After tea Mark and Tania help to clear the table.

  20. They all thank Uncle Fred for a wonderful day. The children go into the car. They talk about the animals they saw on the farm.

  21. Now they have a lot to talk about when they go to school on Monday.They all go into the car. They wave to Uncle Fred. They go home very tired but happy.
