  5. Timing • Earlier selection of new leaders allows for smoother transitions • Provides opportunities for mentorship, shared resources • Allows new leadership team to start working together • May be late to do this year, consider alteration in election schedule for 2013

  6. Shadowing • Benefit to identifying new leaders as early as possible • Allows for questions, experience planning/executing events • Introduction to chapter members

  7. Communication • Share contacts, resources • Opportunity to build working relationship with faculty advisors • Establish connections with school, university, hospital officials

  8. Lessons learned • Each new leader can benefit from short description of their position • Include details regarding specific tasks • booking rooms for meetings • inviting speakers • developing improvement projects • chapter communication • other aspects of chapter activities

  9. Stay connected • Each outgoing leader moves on to new challenges • Consider remaining as a contact for questions as chapters move forward • Provide contact information to Open School team • new leaders • your own contact information (graduates count!)

  11. Chapter Challenge The first 10 chapters to…. • submit their progress report • a paragraph on how they will use the award to support an interdisciplinaryevent Are eligible to receive $250 to use toward a regional activity in 2012-2013 Two chapters will be selected to receive the award.
