Letter to go to parents Friday before half term PM Registration Outlines the aims of the week To develop teamworking skills To gain an understanding of some of the principles of effective learning To practice memory techniques and techniques for note taking To engage in a range of practical problem solving tasks To work creatively and have fun Tells them when each Tutor set is taking part To all Year 8 Parents/Carers Dear Parent/Carer Year 8 Enterprise In Learning I am writing to inform you that your son/daughter will be given th exciting opportunity to participate in a morning programme o "Enterprise in Learning". The main aims of the programme are: To develop teamworking skills To gain an understanding of some of the principles of effective learning To practise memory techniques and techniques for notetaking To engage in a range of practical problem solving tasks To work creatively and have fun The dates of the mornings for each tutor set are as follows: Tuesday 28.02.06 8.7 8.2 Wednesday 01.03.06 8.1 8.8 Thursday 02.03.06 8.5 8.3 Friday 03.03.06 8.4 8.6 This is part of the ongoing Enterprise In Learning programme which seeks to develop pupil's creative and enterprise skills; to contribute towards raising achievement as well as to promote positive attitudes towards learning and success.   4. Tutor set lists • Divide Tutor set into teams of 6 pupils (or 4) • Mixed gender • Mixed ability • Don’t tell pupils before their morning which team they are in to avoid bickering!

General Housekeeping • Programme each day 9.00 – 12.15 with normal break-11 – 11.15 • Register first with normal tutor time activities/tasks • Bring tutees up to Concert Hall on the bell • One Tutor outside Concert Hall to tell them which groups they are in • One Tutor inside to direct them to tables • Tell them to leave bags at back of Hall • Concert Hall prepared with Powerpoint, numbered tables and resource box for each group • 5 mins to group pupils, 5 mins to settle in Hall, start 9.10

  6. Prizes for best team • Points awarded for each activity (or taken away if need be!) • Winning team for the morning • Galleries of Justice tickets x2 for each member • Chocolate • Prizes awarded in following week’s assembly. Certificates in tutor set.

The Brief • The team holds a single pole horizontal by resting it on their forefingers at chest height. • The team must then work cooperatively to lower it to the floor. • But they must all have both fingers in contact with underside only of the pole at all times. • If anyone loses contact team goes back to the start. • You have 5 minutes to complete it.

  31. Group Memory Games Instructions. You will have until the music ends to memorise ten objects. Some objects will be removed, you need to write down the missing objects on your answer sheet. There will be five rounds each with a break. Good luck! Have fun!
