  1. Destruction By Tyler Silagyi

  2. “The woman on the porch reached out with contempt to them all and struck the kitchen match against the railing. People ran out of houses and down the street.” (Page 40) This exemplifies destruction because it shows how books, and where they were housed, were destroyed to prevent free thinking.

  3. “I—I’ve been thinking. About the fire last week. About the man whose library we fixed.” (Page 33) This exemplifies destruction because it shows how masses of books were destroyed in a matter of minutes.

  4. “The Hound! After all the running and rushing and sweating it out and half drowning, to come this far, work this hard, and think yourself safe and sigh with relief and come out on the land at last only to find… The Hound!” (Page 144) The Hound was created to pursue those who are harboring books. These devices are part of the law enforcement, and are able to kill people, innocent or guilty, on demand.

  5. “Chicago. A long time ago. The concussion knocked the air across and down the river, turned the men over like dominos in a line, blew the water in lifting sprays, and blew the dust and made the trees above them mourn with a great wind passing away south.” (Page 160) This shows how when those who perform destruction, will eventually be destructed in the same, devastating manner.

  6. “….Houses have always been fireproof, take my word for it. Strange. I heard once that a long time ago houses used to burn by accident and they needed firemen to stop the flames.” (Page 8) This shows how the knowledge of how today’s society has been purposely forgotten to keep the corrupted government in control.

  7. Destruction Within corruption, comes destruction to guarantee successful propaganda.
