  1. Division Items • Thoughtstream • Curriculum Redesign • SLA vs PAT • Digital Citizenship • Measles Information

  2. Thoughtstream • This is one way in which Mr. Andjelic would like to solve the calendar questions for 4 years. • There will be information coming very soon regarding this. • http://www.thoughtstream.ca/

  3. Curriculum Redesign • Powerpoint • SLA and PAT changes (Slide 56)

  4. SLA vs PAT • There was little interest from principals with regard to doing the PAT tests only.

  5. Digital Citizenship • 89 page Digital Policy Development guide available from the Alberta Government if you’re interested. • This is going to be a priority with the new push for technology in Inspiring Education etc.

  6. Measles

  7. School Items • REAL • Score Clock • Mat leave • Facebook • Christmas Concert/Activities • Sensory Room Project • Library Commons • Punch Card Plan • Average Class Sizes • School Plan

  8. REAL • Dec 4: Simple Connections-Stronger Kids

  9. Score Clock • Mrs. Berg has been working with Shannon Mundt on getting a grant for a new clock: we’ve got money but we don’t know the amount. My understanding is that it is a substantial part of the clock’s cost and we’ll be doing a picture for the paper and putting their name on the clock as well in recognition.

  10. Maternity Leave • Mrs. Jorgenson is off for the remainder of this year and we have hired Erika Tessier as her replacement until the end of June.

  11. Facebook • Mrs. Thornton will be doing a school Facebook page, starting in January, as another way of communicating with parents and students. • The information will be largely the same as the website: it’s just another way to get information out.

  12. Christmas Concert/Activities • December 17th at 1:00 and 7:00 • Elementary students are doing class draws: this will be optional for Jr. High. • Angel tree and food bank donations will also be accepted.

  13. Sensory Room Project • Some equipment has been purchased and placed in the room but it will be a while longer before it’s in operation.

  14. Library Commons • As a way to enhance interest in reading, as part of the school plan, we are trying to make the library a more interesting place to be. • Mrs. Woods will be hosting murder mysteries again this year and we have added some furniture and a pretty good sized tree to the mix. • All classes have a library reading period and all classes do shared reading with another class.

  15. Punch Cards • In order to encourage the use of punch cards instead of cash for school lunches we are going to sell punch cards at 10% off: a $25.00 punch card would be $22.50 and a $50.00 punch card $45.00. • The school will make a little less money but we’ll gain that back and more in reduced loss of time. • There has been some discussion of going entirely on a punch card system: if slightly cheaper punch cards reduces wasted time like I hope then a total punch card system won’t be necessary.

  17. School Plan This on the school website for you to look at any time. I will also make paper copies for anybody that’s interested.
