  1. The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry

  2. Summary In the rainforest lives a Great Kapok Tree . It is a place with many homes and food for animals. It’s very green were The Kapok Tree lives. As the animals are living happly, a man appears in the rain forest with his axe. He walks right too the Kapok Tree and tries to cut it down. After 12 huge chops nothing but a piece of bark came off. Then the man slightly closed his eyes and fell a sleep. Down slithered a Pithon Snake and persuaded him not to cut down the tree. An than a couple of other animals came down and persuaded him not to cut the tree .I recommend this because it teaches us to keep our invirement safe.

  3. Text-To-Text connection When I read the books Our Tree Named Steve by Alan Zweibel and The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry I made a text-to-text connection. When the children cared for Steve it was like when the animals cared for The Great Kapok Tree. And when the people were moving they had to cut down trees. Just like when the man tried to cut down The Great Kapok Tree. Next when they used Steve as 3rd base, target ,tire swing, shade, and a friend. The Great Kapok Tree was used as a home for all different kinds of animals. Thats how I made a text-to-text connection.

  4. Text-To-Self Connection When I read the book The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry, I made a text-to-self connection. In the book the man tried to chop down The Great Kapok Tree. That’s like when I went to cut down a tree with my dad. And when the Pithon snake slithered down from the limb of the tree. That was like when in my wooded backyard there were three snakes that slithered down from a palm tree. And when The Tree Frogs came down from the tree. That’s like when I went to the zoo and I saw Tree Frogs on a tree. That’s how I made a text-to –self connection with The Great Kapok Tree.

  5. Text-To-World Connection I read The book The Great Kapok Tree and made a text-to-world connection. The setting of the book is in a wonderful rainforest full of mysterious animals. The rainforest matters to us because when there’s a flood the roots of tree’s suck up the water, the trees and rivers are home to many animals, they also play a big role of our earths weather climmate. That’s how I made a text-to- world connection with the book The Great Kapok Tree.
