2. Toyota Motor Company (now Corporation) was established in 1937 with the first vehicle the model AA.
Toyota started building vehicles outside of Japan in 1959, and we now have 57 plants in 27 countries.
We employ over 264,000 employees, who we call Members across the world.
We are the 3rd largest automobile Manufacturer, and, annual production exceeds 6 million vehicles.
Just to give you some idea of the scale of our worldwide operations - Manufacturing levels are equivalent to building one car every six seconds all day, every day.

3. Toyota Manufacturing - Europe Toyotas decision to manufacture in Europe was based on a policy of building cars close to its customers. Europe is the worlds most competitive market, with over 16 million vehicles sold annually.
Here is a map of our European manufacturing operations.
Our manufacturing headquarters are based in Brussels.
We currently have 5 manufacturing plants operating in Europe:
Firstly, here at Toyota UK at Burnaston we manufacture the Avensis and the Corolla and engines at our plant based at Deeside in North Wales.
In Valenciennes in Northern France we make the Yaris.
In Poland we have two plants, one that manufactures diesel engines and one that manufactures transmissions.
In a joint venture with PSA Peugeot Citroen, we have a plant in the Czech Republic building the Toyota Aygo (I..go).
In Turkey we make the Corolla Sedan, Verso and Wagon models.
In St Petersburg, Russia Toyota is currently building a plant which will produce the Camry model from 2007. In response to continued high European sales and growth in market share, during 2005, we invested a further 50 million at this plant, increasing the production capacity to 285,000 vehicles a year.
We introduced additional lines in Weld and Paint so that both Avensis and Corolla are produced on two separate lines within each shop, before they go into their separate Assembly shops.
As these are very recent changes we have not yet featured the new investment equipment in the videos you are about to see.
However, these videos give you a detailed insight into the working environments in these shops.
I would now like to show you a video about the Press, Weld and Paint shops. In response to continued high European sales and growth in market share, during 2005, we invested a further 50 million at this plant, increasing the production capacity to 285,000 vehicles a year.

As these are very recent changes we have not yet featured the new investment equipment in the videos you are about to see.

Burnaston is our vehicle manufacturing plant in the UK.
We have produced over 2 million cars here since the start of production in 1992.
Here we build Avensis and Corolla. The Avensis model is exclusively made here in the UK.
This year our production forecast is around 285,000 vehicles; 130,000 Corolla and 155,000 Avensis.
Burnaston is our vehicle manufacturing plant in the UK.
We have produced over 2 million cars here since the start of production in 1992.

At Deeside we build engines for our vehicles.
The engine plant also manufactures engine parts for export and local assembly to Toyota plants across the world.
The processes at Deeside include aluminium casting, machining, assembly and testing.

8. We have also been recognised for our commitment to the protection of the environment.
This is the first car manufacturing plant in the UK to send zero waste to landfill.
In recognition of this achievement, we collected 2 prestigious awards in 2004.
Business in the Community awarded Toyota UK a Big Tick Award for Environmental Impact and we also gained an Environmental Excellence award from Severn Trent Water.
We have also been recognised for our commitment to the protection of the environment.
