  2. What is it? Civil engineering is the design and maintenance of modern day cities. It’s also one of the oldest branches of engineering. They work on a variety of projects in other types of engineering.

  3. Geotechnical Engineering GE is all about using natural materials from the earth. • Subgrades for roads & pavement

  4. Structural Engineering Work alongside with C.E.’s and architects. Specialize in the design, construction, repair and conservation of structures. S.E. have to consider all possible conditions when designing and building structures.

  5. Environmental Engineering Design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment. Design systems to treat chemical, biological and thermal waste. Water and air quality.

  6. Colleges that have civil engineering curriculums (University of Michigan, College of Engineering) Undergraduate degree: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. M.S.E. 15 hours of courses. Expect 8 hours in the area of choice. Construction Engineering and Management, Geotechnical Engineering Hydraulic and hydrologic engineering Structural Materials and Highway engineering. Tuition: $22,322 (instate students) $41,998 (out of state) Location: Ann Arbor, MI
