  2. The Location of Ireland The capital of Ireland is Dublin. It is located in western Europe and is an island in the North Atlantic Ocean.

  3. The Geography of Ireland Ireland’s water forms include the Atlantic Ocean, Bogs, rivers, lakes, and a strait. Ireland’s landforms include hills, mountains, plains, and cliffs.

  4. The Government of Ireland Ireland’s government is Republic. The leader of Ireland is the Taoiseach, which is the head of the government.

  5. The People of Ireland The main Religion is Roman Catholicism. Their main foods agricultural foods and drinks. Irish 87.4%, other white 7.5%, Asian 1.3%, black 1.1%, mixed 1.1%, unspecified 1.6% Irelands population is 4,450,446 people. Ireland’s main language is English.

The Economy of Ireland Ireland’s Industries include: steel, lead, zinc, silver, aluminum, barite, and gypsum mining processing; food products, brewing, textiles, clothing; chemicals, pharmaceuticals; machinery, rail transportation equipment; glass and crystal; software, tourism Ireland’s economic system is a mix of privately owned and state run businesses. Ireland’s currency is Euros. $1=.73 Euros

  7. History of Ireland 1st known settlement was in 8000 BC. A century of Vikings invaded in 800 AD. In 1169 Cambro-Norman mercenaries caused 700 years of direct Norman. The overthrow, in 1613, of the Catholic majority in the Irish parliament was realised principally through the creation of numerous new boroughs, all of which were Protestant-dominated. At the end of the 17th century, Catholics which were about 85% of Ireland were kicked out. In 1922 , after the Irish War of Independence and the Ango-Irish Treaty, the larger part of Ireland seceded from the United Kingdom (UK) to become the independent Irish Free State.
