Susan B. Anthony. 1820- 1906. In the year 1820…. Susan Brownell Anthony was born February 15, 1820 Her parents were Quakers and raised Susan under the principle that men and women are equal . She was the second of eight children. She was a Quaker and was against people drinking alcohol.

In the year 1820… Susan Brownell Anthony was born February 15, 1820 Her parents were Quakers and raised Susan under the principle that men and women are equal. She was the second of eight children. She was a Quaker and was against people drinking alcohol
In the year 1827… • When she was seven years old, her family moved to New York. Susan B. Anthony was born in Adams, Massachusetts.
In the year 1835… In the year 1851… • When she was 31 years old she met Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Together they worked to change New York State laws that discriminated against women. Susan B. Anthony began teaching at the age of 15, and taught until she was 30. She devoted her life to fighting the injustice of women’s inequality. She started in the schools by becoming a teacher. She taught all her students about these inequities. Susan B. Anthony gave credit to Elizabeth C. Stantonfor starting the Women's Rights Movement.
Anthony was also against slavery. • She worked for the American Anti-Slavery Society, and she founded the Women's Loyal League, which fought to free the slaves during the American Civil War. In the year 1869… • The 15thAmendment was passed, NWSA was formed. • In 1869 they started the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA). The goal of this association was to help pass a constitutional amendment giving women the right to vote. • The 15th Amendment gave black men the right to vote before the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote.
In the year 1872… • Susan B. Anthony was arrested in 1872 because she voted in a presidential election. She refused to pay the $100 fine.
In the year 1892… • Susan B. Anthony becomes president of NAWSA in 1892. The National Woman Suffrage Association and the American Woman Suffrage Association, both founded in 1869, were the main suffrage organizations in the U.S. during the 19th century. They pursued the right to vote in different ways, but by 1890 it became necessary to combine efforts to keep the cause alive. The newly formed organization, the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA), became the most mainstream and nationally visible pro-suffrage group. Its strategy was to push for suffrage at the state level, believing that state-by-state support would eventually force the federal government to pass the amendment.
In the year 1906… • Susan B. Anthony dies at age of 86.
In the year 1929… • 19th Amendment • The right of the citizens of the United States to vote. Shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.
