2. About her! • Birthdate: Feb, 15 1820 • Birthplace: Adams, Massachusetts • Her education was normal. Most girls didn’t get a normal education in the early 1800’s. Daniel her father believed in equal education for boys and girls. She attended a private Quaker boarding school in Philadelphia.

3. Family background. • The family was very active in the reform movements of the day. They worked for temperance ( the prohibition of alcohol), and anti-slavery movement. Both Susans parents ( Daniel and Lucy) and her sister Mary signed the “Deceleration of Sentiments” at the 2nd woman rights convention in NY in 1848.

4. Description of Accomplishments. • Susan dedicated her life to “the cause”. The woman suffrage movement. Her accomplishments paved the way for the passage of the 19th amendment in 1920.(14 years after Susan died) it gave woman the right to vote.

5. Her Accomplishments(: • Founded the national woman rights suffrage association in 1869 with life long friend Elizabeth Candy Stanton together they worked for woman's suffrage for over 50 years • Published “ The revolution” from 1868-1870 a weekly paper about the woman suffrage movement whose motto read “ men their rights and nothing more , woman their rights and nothing less.” • She was the first person arrested, put on trial and fined for voting on November 1872. Speaking in her own defense she said she refused to pay a dollar of your adjusted penalty.

6. Her accomplishments… continued. • Wrote the 19th Amendment which gave woman the right to vote. • She helped found the National American woman's suffrage. • She served as president of the National American woman suffrage until 1900.

7. And more accomplishments… • She led the only non-violent revolution in our country's history. The 72 year struggle to win woman the right to vote. • She gave 75-100 speeches is 45 years.

9. Another picture of Susan. • “I distrust those people who know god so well what god wants them to do because I notice it coincides with their own desires.” –Susan B Anthony 1896.

10. When it ended..): • Date of death: March 13, 1906 • Place of death: Susan died in her home in Rochester, NY of pneumonia and heart failure. • Her last public words were “ Failure is impossible.” These words became the suffrage rallying cry.

Bullet points would be much better with notes with more information. There are a couple mistakes that distract from the presentation as well. With a little polishing and practicing giving the presentation this student was able to pass with a second attempt. See the rubric on the following slide for more details.
