  2. Controversy

  3. Council

  4. Jerusalem Council Peter’s speech

  5. Galatians 3:23–27 (ESV) Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

  6. Jerusalem Council Peter’s speech Paul & Barnabas’s speech James’s speech

  7. Principles for Grace-filled living: As those under grace we are not to make non-Biblical requirements of others. Because we are under grace, we gladly restrict our freedom for the sake of others.

  8. 1 Corinthians 9:19–21 (ESV) For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law.

  9. Jerusalem Council Peter’s speech Paul & Barnabas’s speech James’s speech The proclamation and letter

  10. Implications & Applications: • Salvation is by Grace alone through Faith alone in Christ alone.

  11. Ephesians 2:8–9 (ESV) For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

  12. Implications & Applications: • Salvation is by Grace alone through Faith alone in Christ alone. • Saving grace is never alone. • What traditions are you carrying around?
