  4. Class Description • Read and analyze a variety of genres. • Study a variety of literary elements and devices. • Practice reading skills and strategies. • Study a variety of vocabulary words and Latin and Greek roots. • AR reading

  5. Reading Goals • Students will: Improve standardized test scores. Become life-long readers. Master comprehensions skills. Increase written and oral vocabulary. Improve reading fluency.

  6. Class Expectations • Respect yourself and one another. • This classroom is a safe zone. • Take initiative. Advocate for yourself. • Use technology effectively. • Value both process and product.

  7. Reading Grades • Grades will consist of daily work, response journals, vocabulary work, in-class activities and projects, quizzes, and tests. • AR – 25% of quarter grade. • ½ % correct • ½ point goal • Recovery – any D or F grade can be redone and raised to a C. • Late grades will be lowered 10%. • Total points
