    1. How to use the Follett Destiny OPAC at Lincoln School From your classroom or the Media Center By Krysia Biville, Media Specialist This Power Point was developed to be given at a faculty meeting. It is an overview of some of the aspects of the OPAC in our Media Center. I made the Power Point with the idea that I will post it on the Media Center Web Page for teachers to refer to. That way if they are the type that would like to sit alone and try things out they have an instant resource to refer to. We are always happy to assist in the use of the software in the Media Center on a one on one basis. This is just a little resource and training rolled into one Power Point. 6. You will be brought to this page. You will have two main tabs: Catalog and My Info.

    7. From this screen you may search any of the library collections available in-district or all of the collections at once.

    8. Library Search allows you to search the collection many ways. The Basic search screen is what you see below. This is the default search screen.

    9. This is the power search screen. To get to this screen you must select the Power tab on the upper right. With this screen you can use standard Boolean Search strategies to narrow your search. If you would like a tutorial on how to use these types of strategies click here.

    10. This is an example of how the drop down menus work on the Power Search screen.

    11. This is the Visual Search Screen. To get to this menu you must click the Visual tab on the upper right. This screen is helpful for younger students. The entire search process is done by clicking on pictures.

    12. This is the second screen of the visual search for animals.

    13. The Categories Tab is not used in the Lincoln School Media Center at this time. The Number Tab is for searching by Call Number.

    14. If your search comes back with no matching items you can click the Browse Subjects tab to see items that are closest to your search.

    15. When you look at the Title Details you can see if and when the copy will be available, you can Hold It! or you can click Show More for more information.

    16. Show More gives you Additional Information about awards and reading level for the book.

    17. If your title is not available in your school media center you can see if there are other copies available in another school in-district.

    18. Resource Lists are a way to keep track of books you may need for specific lessons. These lists can be created for you by the Media Specialist or you can create your own. If the list is Public everyone can use it. You may also create Personal Lists for your own use.

    19. When you add a list you should give it a name and description and decide if you want to make it Public. Then Save the list.

    20. There are many public lists available. Please check back often because they are being added all the time!

    21. Search the catalog for books you would like to add to your list and then click Add to this List and select the list you want to add it to.

    22. You can switch between multiple lists if you need to.

    23. You can view and edit your lists.

    24. You can click Printable and get a pop-up printable version of the list you want.

    25. You can Hold or Request the book and it will be signed out to you and delivered.

    26. After clicking the Hold It! button just click Save.

    27. You can look yourself up under the My Info Tab and see what books you have out!

    28. All of these tools are here for you in the Follett Destiny OPAC. Dont hesitate to ask for help if you are unclear on what you can do.
