  2. Science Often Misunderstands God • They seek to prove God through scientific experimentation or logic. • They want to dissect and examine • They ignore historical evidence

  3. Is The Scientific Method Limited?

  4. What Evidence Will Science Accept? • Refuses to accept historical evidence. • Refuses to accept eyewitness testimony. • Dismisses early encounters with God as ignorance and superstition.

  5. How Early Man Experienced God • Jeremiah 7:23 -- But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you.’

  6. He Was Their One And Only • 2 Chronicles 14:11 -- Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said, “Lord, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength; so help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name have come against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; let not man prevail against You.”

  7. Terms By Which They Knew God • As KING • Psalm 24:7-8 -- Lift up your heads, O gates,And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.

  8. As Eternal Lord • Revelation 4:8 -- And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is to come.”

  9. As Valiant Warrior • Psalm 118:14-16 -- The Lord is my strength and song,And He has become my salvation. The sound of joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;The right hand of the Lord does valiantly. The right hand of the Lord is exalted; The right hand of the Lord does valiantly.

  10. As Shepherd • Psalm 23:1 • The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”

  11. As Savior • 1 Timothy 4:10 – “For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men,especially of believers.

  12. As Father • Psalm 68:5 --A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy habitation.

  13. As The Sun •   Psalm 84:11 – For the Lord God is a sun and a shield; The Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

  14. As A Blazing Fire • Hebrews 12:29 --…for our God is a consuming fire

  15. As Truth • Psalm 31:5 -- For You are my strength.Into Your hand I commit my spirit;You have ransomed me, O Lord, God of truth.

  16. As Protection • Psalm 32:7 --You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble;You surround me with songs of deliverance.

  17. As Their All In All • 1 Corinthians 15:28 – “When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.

  18. There Is NO Higher Good • Psalm 16:2 – I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good besides You.”

  19. In fact, there is nothing else… • Psalm 73:25-26 – Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

  20. To Whom We Are So Small • Psalm 39:5 – Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths, and my lifetime as nothing in Your sight; Surely every man at his best is a mere breath.”

  21. To Whom We Gladly Surrender All • Romans 12:1 – “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.”

  22. To Receive Eternal Life • John 17:1-3 – “Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, ‘Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life. This is eternal life, that they may know You the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
