Office on Women’s Health • VISION: All women and girls are healthier and have a better sense of well-being. • MISSION:Provide leadership to promote health equity for women and girls through sex and gender-specific approaches. • GOALS: • Develop and impact national health policy as it relates to women and girls • Develop, adapt, implement, evaluate, and replicate model programs on women’s and girls’ health • Educate, influence, and collaborate with health and human services organizations, health care professionals, and the public • Increase OWH’s organizational efficiency and performance

  3. Implementation Activities • STI Awareness Campaign for Teen Girls • HIV Prevention Gender Toolkit: Developing Gender Responsive HIV Prevention Strategies for US Women • National Conference on HIV/AIDS and Violence Against Women • Demonstration Projects

  4. Supporting the NHAS • Collaborate with Federal Partners • Cross-training and gender-responsive approaches • Engage Stakeholders • NASTAD, NCSD, SIECUS, DELTA SIGMA THETA, etc. • Private-Public Partnership • National Council on Gender (underway) • Objective Engagement – Women Leaders

Supporting the NHAS Locally • Build Capacity and Provide Technical Assistance • Gender-responsive training to direct providers, and state and local health departments • Develop Implementation Partners • Collaborate at the local level to serve the prevention, treatment and care needs of women and girls • Engage Regional Coordinators in 10 HHS regions

  6. NHAS and You • Build Formal Partnerships • Endorsed by leadership • Identify and Remove Barriers for Sharing Information • Seamless client continuum of care (test, link, care, treatment) • Shift Paradigm of Competition to Collaboration • Inclusion vs. Exclusion
