History of the practice • 1882 - Hunter Commission • 1901-Reservations in Maharashtra by Shahu Maharaj. • 1935- Poona Pact • 1942-B.R.Ambedkar established the All India Depressed Classes Federation • 1947 –Independence, Dr. Ambedkar was appointed chairman of the drafting committee for Indian Constitution. • 26/01/1950-The Constitution of India came in force. • 1953-Kalelkar Commission • 1991 -Narasimha rao Government
