This project aims to teach students the main stages of an excavation, modern museology, restoration techniques, and the history of a people through documents and artifacts. The students will also learn to reconstruct a historical period through complex operations as time progresses.

  2. THE WORKING GROUP

History I would like to make some preliminary remarks: • According to the new school reform by the Minster Moratti, The Roman history is not a school subject on the national syllabus in the junior secondary school • So this project cannot be compulsory and the involved pupils are from class 1 but they are helped by some pupils from class 3

  4. Targets This project let pupils: • learn the main stages of an excavation • know some basis on the modern museology • learn the most important operations of restoration, signing, drawing, cataloguing • know the history of a people through documents and finds • realize that to reconstruct a historical period is the result of complex operations as time progressed

  5. Methodology The working process is divided into three steps

  6. 1st step – theorical • Skilled Archeologists from Ozzano are teaching pupils the basis to know the ancient history of people who lived at Claterna from 500 BC to 500 AD • Pupils will also find out the possible links with the archeological sites in Uppakra and Jomsborg

  7. FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE

  8. 2nd step – practical • Pupils, divided into small operating groups and referring to their notes, will produce reports on the subjects brought up by the Archeologists • Their writings focusing on particular aspects of Roman living habits will be delivered to the web - editor in Italian and English and will be on the school web site as well.

  9. 3rd step – practical Pupils will produce drawings, paintings, handmade, models, leaflets, recipes to show in a personal exhibition

  10. Why English? VIROM and COMENIUS Projects have much in common

  11. Lots of important aspects relating to the research the study the possible connections among different cultures so we have connected these projects

  12. Children of class 1 are working on the past and some Pupils of class 3 are their tutors • They have the responsibility of small groups • They have to help the younger Pupils and collaborate with them

  13. They must set up a e-mail link with your Students. We can fix day, time and procedure they will use to keep in touch regularly about the project. • They will translate every notes in English

  14. The objectives for all that are: To let the Students  • Revise some aspects of the ancient history in a different way • Learn much more about ancient cultures in Europe • Learn a specific language

  15. Practice English • Develop cooperation • Create motivation to communicate • Make them aware of being citizen of the world
