  2. The mythology. • Hercules was fighting Hydra the nine headed monster. A crab scurried and pinched Hercules toe this crab was a distraction. in the war and Hercules killed it. The Greek goddess hera was impressed with the crab. And showed its picture up in the sky.

  5. Why is it called cancer The name derives from Latin, meaning literally, the crab. The ruler of the fourth sign of the zodiac is the Moon, the Crab, its symbol. The glyph is often seen as representing the breasts, indicating the area of the body ruled by Cancer. This is also seen as two crab claws, intertwined in a way which represents the dual nature of the Cancerian personality.

  6. When was it discovered The first documented case was in 1500 B.C. I’m not sure whatthey thought it was, but it was named cancer, as the tumor resembled a crab, the zodiac sign for cancer.

Cancer is small and its stars are faint. It lies between Gemini to the west and Leo to the east, Lynx to the north and Canis Minor and Hydra to the south.
