The Church Is Part Of God’s Divine Plan Ephesians 3:9-11 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,

  4. Characteristics of the Church Establishment – Isaiah 2:2-3, Luke 24:46-47 Peaceful and spiritual – Isaiah 2:4, Ephesians 2:14-15, John 18:36 Universal – Isaiah 2:2-3, Matthew 28:19-20 Everlasting – Daniel 2:44, Hebrews 12:27-38

God’s Plan For the Church • To reconcile man to Himself in it. • Sin separates – Isaiah 59:1-2, James 4:4 • All sin – Romans 3:23 • We are reconciled by the blood of Christ – 1 Peter 1:18 • His blood purchased the church – Acts 20:28 • The church consists of the saved – Acts 2:40-47; Ephesians 5:23, 1:22-23, 1:3; Galatians 3:26-27

  6. Do We Need The Local Church? • It existed with the imprimatur of the apostles of the Lord. Philippians 3:17, 1 Corinthians 1:2, Philippians 1:1 • Acts 9:26-28; Acts 2:40-47 • Acts 11:26

  7. There are responsibilities we can’t meet without it. Hebrews 10:24-25 Ephesians 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;

  8. There are responsibilities we can’t meet without it. Philippians 2:4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 1 Timothy 5:16 If any believing man or woman has widows, let them relieve them, and do not let the church be burdened, that it may relieve those who are really widows. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

  9. The Scriptures become nonsensical without it. Ephesians 4:1-16 1 Timothy 3:1-15, cf. 1 Peter 5:1-2, Acts 20:28

  10. Conclusion The church is part of God’s eternal purpose. Ephesians 3:9-11 We are not saved outside of it. Acts 2:47, Ephesians 1:3 The local church is necessary as well.
