Smashing Times- Theatre for Change, Performance, Training, Participation • Established in 1991 • The work of the company is underpinned by a rights-based approach and a commitment to artistic excellence and social engagement. • The company has four high profile patrons – Maeve Binchy, Brian Friel, Tim Pat Coogan and Robert Kee.

Smashing Times are committed to: • Professional Performance • Professional training and education in drama and theatre • Participatory theatre practice – supporting direct access for local communities and communities of interest • Theatre for change – Supporting the use of theatre as a form of knowledge and as a means of transforming society so as to promote social justice and equality • Links & research between professional & participatory theatre within Ireland and on an international basis

  6. Reconciliation and Equality through Drama Seminar 2011 • A one day seminar sharing methodologies of artistic processes and how they can engage with social issues • Drama workshops by Idan Meir (Combatants for Peace) Raymond Keane (Barabbas) & Maria McBride (STTC)

Acting for Change Project2010-2011 • Utilised drama and theatre activities to engage participants to explore themes that are a consequence of the conflict in Northern Ireland and the Southern Border counties. • The project promoted equality, diversity and the coming together of different communities in mutual understanding and respect. • Smashing Times Theatre Company conducted Anti- Racism and Anti Sectarianism workshops as well as Storytelling Workshops with many cross border and cross community groups of adults and children.
