U.S. EPA/Air Resources Board Data Harmonization Status • ARB is in the process of constructing a computer system to facilitate the acceptance of electronic certification applications for all categories. • ARB is part of a collaborative effort with the U.S. EPA to standardize on a common comprehensive format for these electronic submissions. Please note: Only data format is being harmonized NOT regulations or evaluation.

U.S. EPA/Air Resources Board Data Harmonization Status (cont.) • There will be secure methods for submitting these files to both ARB and U.S.EPA. • These files will then be forwarded to the appropriate personnel at both agencies for: • Separate review and analysis at both ARB and EPA. • Separate issuance of California EO and EPA certificate. • It is anticipated that electronically submitting an application will help to improve the processing of applications.

U.S. EPA/Air Resources Board Data Harmonization Status (cont.) • Motorcycle/ATV/OFMC are the first categories to be implemented. • The anticipated rollout date for the Motorcycle prototype is early March 2005. • The standardized file format is XML and U.S.EPA is developing a website to help facilitate the construction of the XML file.

SORE Implementation Schedule • ARB and U.S.EPA are currently constructing data requirements for the Small Off-Road Engine category. • Once completed ARB and U.S.EPA will harmonize the data requirements.These harmonized data requirements would include data that is Common to EPA and ARB, ARB-only and EPA-only. • Industry will get to comment on the requirements. • XML files will be designed/created to replace the current Filemaker Pro files.

  6. SORE Implementation Schedule • U.S.EPA will create a web interface similar to Filemaker Pro to help facilitate the creation of these files. (Or you can create them yourself) • Industry will get to comment on the new screens. • Anticipated rollout date for the SORE XML is in 2006. • ARB will try to accommodate the new Filemaker Pro template being constructed by John Foster as an interim measure. This template will generate a comma delimited file.
