  2. Inner Planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars

  3. Inner Planets: small & made of rock.

  4. Mercury-looks like our moon (Luna)

  5. Mercury-no atmosphere! (takes 88 days to orbit the sun)

  6. Venus-covered in yellow clouds& the hottest planet!

  7. Mars-”Red” Planet The surface is made mainly of the mineral IRON. Iron rusts.

  8. Outer Planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

  9. OUTER PLANET FACTS: • VERY LARGE • MADE OF GASES • RINGS AROUND THEM

  10. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune-all have rings!

  12. Jupiter: 63 moons & a great red spot

  13. Saturn’s Rings: ice & rock

  14. Uranus-spins on its side! Its axis is tilted almost completely on its side. The tilt is what causes seasons.

  15. Neptune: 5 billion km away from the sun!

  16. Neptune takes 165 years to orbit the sun

  17. Pluto is now a dwarf planet!
