  2. In the U.S. Constitution, the judicial branch explains and interprets the laws and is made up of the Supreme Court and lower federal courts.

  8. 3. Hear cases of appeal from lower federal and state courts. Roe v. Wade (1973)

  9. 4. Be the first to hear cases involving disputes between states. Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857)
