  2. Step 1: Introduction to Scatter Plots • The following website has a variety of information concerning scatter plots. • While working on the site complete the worksheet you have downloaded. http://argyll.epsb.ca/jreed/math9/strand4/scatterPlot.htm

  3. Step 2: Create your own Power Point • Click on the circle on the top left of your screen. • Click on New • Double-click “Blank Presentation” • Create a title page including: • your name, course name, date, block and title. • Click on New Slide on the tool bar. • Follow the next slides to create scatter plots.

  5. Here’s how… 1. Click on “Insert” on top menu. 2. Click on chart NEXT SLIDE

  6. Click on “XY (Scatter)”, then click “OK” NEXT SLIDE

  7. Type the data into the excel chartThe numbers will automatically transfer to the graph. Make sure you resize the data area. Close the excel document when all data typed in.

  8. Approximate The Best Fitting Line Using the tools under, “Home” draw the best fitting line.

  9. Check To See The Actual Best Fitting Line Make sure you are clicked on the chart. Then under “Chart Tools” choose “Design”. Click on the right hand box in “Chart Layouts”. If your line moves after this step, just move it back. Click “Home” on top and then “New Slide” and do the same thing for the second set of data.

  10. Make your own Scatter Plot • You will need to make 3 Scatter Plots of your own in addition to the two you have already made. • Use the sites on the following slide, or those of your own choosing, to find this data. • Please put the web link where your data was found on the bottom of your Scatter Plot. • Your final presentation should include a Title Page, and 5 different Scatter Plots. • Please be creative with animations, etc. • The more creative, the more points you will receive.

  11. Collect Data Use one or more of these sites to collect data. You may use other sites as well. You need to have data for three charts and each chart must contain at least 8 points.

  12. Save it! • My computer • Sth_user • Miss Powell’s Class • Your block • Last name, first name Scat • Save Word Document • Last name, first name, word
