  2. Summary • The Millers Tale is about this old carpenter and his wife who is desperate to cheat on him with another man. This other man is named Nicholas and he works for the carpenter. This story is about karma and having integrity. Essentially what happens is Nicholas tricks the carpenter into thinking there’s going to be a huge flood. He tells the carpenter to go and get two tubes and a days worth of supplies. After he gets the tubes and supplies he tells the carpenter to spend the night on the roof. While the carpenter is spending the night on the roof Nicholas and Alison have hot sweet sex. There is another man who’s name is Absolon who is in love with the carpenters wife. Since Absolonhas feelings for the carpenters wife he tries to kiss her when he goes to the house and she tells Nicholas to stick his butt in front of her face. After that he proceeds to kiss Alison and he ends up kissing Nickolas’s butt. Absolon is tricked and is not happy with what happened. The day after this happened Absolon wants to get revenge so he brands Nicks butt with an iron.

  3. Character Analysis • Carpenter: rich, protective, foolish, and deceivable. • Nicholas: educated, and intelligent, charming and sly. • Absolon: talented and confident, and merry.

  4. Reading Questions ! • 1) After being humiliated at the carpenter’s house, Absolon did what? After being humiliated, Absolon goes to the carpenter’s house and gets an iron and burns Nicholas in the butt after he farts in his face.

  5. 2) What is Nicholas’ plan to get the carpenter out of the house? He says there is a flood and that they should spend the night on the roof and gives them tubs.
