  1. Reflection Questions By Michelle Santana

  2. Reflection Questions • 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?                                                                                                                 - It challenges conventions because in the story, the woman is the Hero that is being honored and typically in movies, the man is the hero. In this story, the woman in this story is the one who is being honored for her work in the war. Originally, the daughter believes it is her dad who is the one being honored but to her surprise, it ends up being the mother. This represents the feminist groups and woman activist who strive for gender equality and believe woman can be the hero too and can be as strong as man can be.

  3. Reflection Questions • 2. How does your product engage with audience and how would it be distributed as a real media text?                                                                                                                  - It engages with the audience because once the opening ends, the audience is taken to the time of the French war and continues the mystery of the grandmother working the French resistance. The first thing you hear in the film is old French type music which isn’t very typical in all movies. In the beginning of the film it is just the old lady and her book but as it progress, there is dialogue in the film which eventually leads to the scene where the old lady takes the Paris letter from her daughter. This captures the peoples attention and keeps them wondering about what is in the letter that the old lady didn’t want her daughter to see.The film will be distributed in movie theaters and sites like Netflix and Hulu and on Redbox after the film is out of the theaters.

  4. Reflection Questions • 3. How did you production skills develop throughout this project?                                       - My production skills developed throughout the project because this time in the video we added text to film. Since we were making a movie opening we had to add title cards. So we had to chose the right font and color and place the title cards in appropriate places. For the font, since it was classy type film, we used a cursive font with pastel colors. Also, we had to plan out the whole idea of our film in order for us to film the scenes correctly. We wanted to do an audio switch from the audio on top of the video to switch to the music playing in the record player, so we had to film the audio perfectly. However, when we went to edit, it didn’t work out, so we ended up just using the audio continuously with no switch. Also, we used a software editing system that we had never used before. For our past projects we used iMovie to edit, but for this one we used Pinnacle. Although they are different software's so they work differently, it wasn’t very difficult to learn how to use Pinnacle.

  5. Reflection Questions • 4. How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online-in this project?   - For our project we used Sasha's Canon Rebel to film instead of the cameras provided by the school because her camera is better quality. We transferred all the clips from her camera to the computer we were using to edit and then chose the best clips from there. For editing, we used Pinnacle software rather than iMovie. We also downloaded a song from YouTube called “That’s what you think” which we used in the beginning and the end of the opening. Also, we downloaded fonts from the internet because we didn’t like the ones provided on the software. For the color of the fonts, we searched pastel colors on the internet and founds code to get those colors. Then, we upload the final project on YouTube on Sasha’s channel.
