  3. The agreement of adjectives 2 Un serpent vert Une tortue verte Adjectives are describing words. Adjectives can describe shape, colour, size, and many other things about a noun. In English they never change, but in French they change depending on the gender of the noun they are describing. Look at the following pictures and text. Which word is the adjective in each case? What do you think it means? Can you see how it changes depending on the gender?
