  2. TERMS OF REFERENCEFOR SWG MEMBER ROTATION • 1. Nominal appointment duration - 3 years • 2. Assign (randomly) all current SWG members a completion date (1/3 rotate per yr). • The rotation will begin in September 2003. New SWG members would complete their • appointment in 3 years. • 3. Each NAME SWG member may be reappointed for one additional 3 year term. • 4. Approval Process for SWG nominations: US CLIVAR Pan AM Panel, • US CLIVAR SSC • GEWEX GAPP SAG • * After confirmation, the terms of reference and slate of nominees are • forwarded to the VAMOS Panel for final review and approval.

Douglas = 3 Gutzler = 1 Lobato = 2 Meitin = 3 Ropelewski = 1 • Schemm = 2 Schubert = 3 Shuttleworth = 1 Stensrud = 2 Zhang = 3 • 1=September 2003 2=September 2004 3=September 2005 • PANEL MEMBERS WHO HAVE ELECTED TO ROTATE OFF THE NAME SWG: • David Gutzler, Jim Shuttleworth, Chester Ropelewski • PANEL MEMBERS INTERESTED IN REAPPOINTMENT TO THE SWG: • Jorge Amador, Miguel Cortez-Vazquez • NOMINATIONS FOR NEW SWG MEMBERS TO REPLACE ROTATING ONES • Kingtse Mo, Climate Prediction Center / NWS • Dennis Lettenmaier, University of Washington • Andrea Ray, Climate Diagnostics Center / NOAA

PROPOSED 2003 SWG MEMBER ROTATION • NEW ADDITIONS TO THE SWG • Erik Pytlak, NAME Forecast Operations Center, NWS • Dave Gochis, NAME Hydrometeorology Working Group, UCAR • Bob Maddox, NAME FOC, University of Arizona • EARLY ROTATIONS • Rit Carbone, NCAR • Jose Meitin, NSSL • Dick Johnson to replace Rit Carbone on the SWG. NSF Tier 1 • Diagnostic studies. • (2) Francisco O’Campo Torres to replace Jose Meitin on the panel.
