  1. Session Approach Labour Mobility Working Group of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association HRSDC CCPA

  2. PWG with support and wide consultation with the Canadian counselling community has been: Formulating strategic direction in the new environment of inter-jurisdictional labour mobility Ensuring appropriate tools and supporting materials for implementation, providing an opportunity to discuss issues related to professional mobility Building partnerships Developing communication networks and strategies Ensuring a fit between project objectives, organizational structure and culture Ensuring accountability to the Canadian counselling community

  3. At this symposium you ‘re being asked to take on a role you might not have anticipated. We are being presented with an opportunity in a growing and maturing profession to be here as STEWARDS of that profession. . . to do our part as stewards of the counselling profession in Canada.. What does that mean and what would it look like to be a steward?

  4. We’re inviting you to take off your hat as the provincial representative of an organization and to use your thoughtfulness and mindfulness about what we do as counsellors, and what we contribute to our communities to inform your participation here over the next two days.

  5. Stewardship is: An ethic that embodies cooperative planning and management of resources within organizations, communities and others to actively engage in organizational change for long term sustainability… the future.

  6. Stewardship is: “the glue that holds us together’ “the oil that keeps it running smoothly” “the energy that gives it ethical direction and momentum”

  7. At this Symposium as stewards we will gain oversight and understanding by: Receiving the survey summary information Asking questions and engaging in sufficient dialogue to adopt the national consensus gained through the Survey as it relates to the definition, recommended titles and scope of practice Reviewing, considering and providing input to the framework document presented for the Code of Ethics/ Standards of Practice Reviewing communication strategies for project status updates and developments Contributing to an action plan for implementation Making good use of what we’ve been given by taking ownership of the Symposium results and sharing them in your home communities: passing on what we have received.

  8. Thank you / Merci
