  1. Arctic and Polar Regions This presentation is about the Arctic and Polar regions of the world and what wildlife live there. There is also information about the human impact on these regions and where in the world these regions are located. By Erica Soike

  2. Location • There are artic and polar regions in the north and south poles. • The artic ocean is located at the north pole.

  3. Physical Characteristics • Much of these regions are covered by ice, with temperatures that are cold all year long with a narrow temperature range.

  4. Producers • The main producers in the artic region are plankton and krill. These are what most of the fish and whales eat.

  5. Consumers • Invertebrates • Algae • Mollusks • Worms • Vertebrates • Fish • Birds • Mammals

  6. “Cool” Facts • All polar bears live only at the north pole. • The northern lights appear only in the northern hemisphere at night and are caused by electrically charged particles from the sun mixing with earths gasses.

  7. Human Impact • There are many scientists that are stationed in the Arctic regions who are calculating the effects of climate change on the Arctic regions. Global warming has had a negative effect on these polar regions.
