Isaiah 61:1-2 (NIV) • 1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 

  5. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (vs. 3 NIV)

  6. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. (vs 4 NIV)

  7. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. (vs. 5 NIV)

  8. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (vs. 6 NIV)

  9. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy. (vs. 7 NIV)

  10. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. (vs. 8 NIV)

  11. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. (vs. 9 NIV)

  12. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (vs. 10 NIV)

  13. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven….(vs. 12a NIV)
