ABOUT PROJECTIn July 2012, the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED),in partnership with the Municipality of Gradiste, started the implementation of project Cross-border cooperation for investment promotion (EU CBC IP)Total project value on both sides of the border is594,608.31 EUR and the share of 505.417,06 EURis being funded by the European Union

  3. PROJECT PARTNERSThe project, lasting for two years, is being implemented in cooperation with:Office for International Cooperation (TINTL), Municipality of Gradiste, Municipality of Lovas, City of Ilok - CroatiaMunicipality of Odzaci, Municipality of Kula - Serbia

  4. PROJECT GOALSThe overall project goal is to improve the competitiveness and ensure sustainable economic growth of the border region. The specific objectives:Cross-border region will be positioned and recognized as investment friendly region on Europena market and to increase local capacities for attracting and managing investmens

The project will encourage creation of investment-friendly environment and promotion of cooperation among Croatian and Serbian companies and local governments in the border areaThe project will contribute to the positioning and visibility of border region as business-friendly in the European market, which involves, among other things, development of conditions for attracting investments and strengthening the capacities of local governments to identify and promote the investment opportunities

  6. EXPECTED RESULTSLocal capacities for attracting and managing investments increasedSet of investment attraction and managing tools developed according to needs of local communities and investorsBusiness and investment climate at the local level in the program region improved

TARGET GROUPS AND FINAL BENEFICIARIES Target groups of the CBC IP Project are local self-governments in cross-border region (Vukovar-Srijem County, Croatia; West Backa District, Serbia) twenty trainess educated to attract and manage investment in cross-border region, participating investors and local companies Final beneficiaries of the CBC IP Project are public institutions related to investment, potential and existing investors in the cross-border region, citizens and local community

PREVIOUS ACTIVITIESCurriculum for educational program that includes workshops and practical work with mentors, to train persons on investment attraction and managementSets of three-day workshops:Led data collection, maintainance, analysis and useBusiness planning and soft management skillsInvestment promotion and investment management

FURTHER STEPSIn order to identify investment possibilities in the region, in cooperation with consulting house SEEDEV ltd from Belgrade, we are working on developing of two sector studies (for Agricultural/Food processing sector and Chemical sector), and two subsector studies for West-Backa District, Serbia. Six round tables will be organized in Odzaci and Kulato discuss about these studiesInvestment brochure describing investment possibilities in the CB region in 4 sectors identified through sector study

  10. Regional investment strategy with action plan for the next three years will be prepared based on these sector studies. It will help municipalities to plan all activities in developing their investment offers and ensure that municipalities are dealing with potential and existing investments in the best way possibleDevelopment of database software in 4 languages (Eng, Ger Cro, Srb) that will be used by municipalities and investors alike. It will contain data on workforce demographics, taxes and tax-based incentives, business costs, infrastructure etc.

English language course as a part of the educational programme for serbian trainees and seminars with exicting foreign investors as a part of the Aftercare service will be organizedVisiting missions of foreign investors to Kula and Odzaci:Organize two visits of potential investors and meetings with stakeholders and local decision makers in the area, visits to business areas and investment locations in municipalities, as a part of proactive presentation of opportunities

  12. Investment missions abroad: Milano, Vienna, Stuttgart Organize three visits to foreign companies (potential foreign investors) and present municipal and regional investment potentials to company’s leadership. Visit will be organized to preidentified companies who have done or plan to do business in the region and might have interest to expand their investmentsInternational trade fair: Hannover (Germany)Contact potential investors and companies willing to expand in the area directly
