  1. HVACR318 – Refrigeration II Diagrams

  2. Hooking up Gauges on Suction and Discharge Lines

  3. Hooking up Gauges on Suction and Liquid Lines

  4. Setting up Recovery Unit

  5. When These Steps are Complete… …Purge hoses and turn on recovery unit.

  6. Recovery Unit On

  7. When the System is Empty… …Close off all gauge handles …Turn off rec unit …Close off cylinder valve

  8. Triple Evacuate… …Connect white hose to vacuum pump.

  9. Triple Evacuate… …Turn on vacuum pump, then open the vacuum pump access valve.

  10. Open the Front Access Gauge Valve

  11. Open the Side Access Gauge Valves… …Let run until compound gauge shows deep vacuum. OPEN

  12. Close Side Access Gauge Valves… …See if vacuum holds…if not, go longer.

  13. When it Holds, (close the access valve on the v-pump)… …set up a cylinder to break the vacuum with refrigerant or nitrogen.

  14. Once at 0 psi on Both Gauges… …Evacuate again.

  15. Get System Back to a 30” Vacuum OPEN

  16. When it Holds (close the access valve on the v-pump)… PURGE HOSE …set up a cylinder again to break the vacuum with refrigerant or nitrogen.

  17. When at 0 psi on Both Gauges… …evacuate again.

  18. Get System Back to a 500 Micron Vacuum… CLOSE …Close off all valves and v-pump handle before turning it off.

  19. Setting up for Charging the System

  20. Open Front Access Valve on Gauges… …slowly crack thehigh side handle so liquid canflow into the high side (just break the vacuum).

  21. When Ready to Turn on System… UPSIDE DOWN CYLINDER …Be sure high side gauge handle is closed…then turn on system.

  22. When Ready to Turn on System… UPSIDE DOWN CYLINDER

  23. Slowly Crack the Low Side Handle… UPSIDE DOWN CYLINDER …Using the ambient tempammeter, subcoolingand/or superheat…checkthe charge as you go. That’s it.
