  1. Positive Behaviour for learning (PBL)

  2. PBL Our set of school standards & expectations are: • Be Respectful • Be Responsible • Be Safe

  3. Be Respectful

  4. Be Responsible

  5. Be Safe

  6. Hi Five Strategy STEP 1 - TALK FRIENDLY • When you Talk Friendly this reminds others to use a quiet friendly voice, to have a friendly look on their face and to keep their body relaxed and friendly. STEP 2 - TALK FIRMLY • When a student talks firmly, this reminds them to use a brave voice, not an angry voice, when speaking to the other/s. Talking FIRMLY means letting others know: - What they are doing that you don’t like, - Why you don’t like it, and - That you want them to stop it.

  7. STEP 3 - IGNORE • Ignoring is a strategy we need to use when the other person continues to annoy or harass us, even when you have asked them to stop. • Ignoring means that you keeps doing what you were doing, even if the other person is saying mean things or trying to interrupt your play or activity. This strategy takes time and practice to use well. STEP 4 - WALK AWAY • This requires you to remove yourself from the area where the other person is annoying or harassing you. You need to still use the strategy of ignoring as you move calmly away from the other person.

  8. STEP 5 - REPORT • When you are reporting an incident you do so promptly and give the following information: • What happened, • Where it happened, • Who was involved, and • What you did to try and solve the problem. • Only give the facts.

  9. Stop...Think...Do... STOP • What is happening? What is your involvement? What is the right thing to do? THINK • Have I used a friendly but firm voice? Can I ignore it? Should I move away? Do I report it? DO • Act respectfully, responsibly and safely by doing the Hi Five.
