  9. MetOP-A Cal/Val • SNOs between MetOP-A and NOAA-18 are now routinely predicted for intercalibration • First opportunity is 21:32:35 UTC on Nov. 1, 2006 • Availalble at: http://www.orbit.nesdis.noaa.gov/smcd/spb/calibration/icvs/ • Under infrared imagers>>MetOP-A/AVHRR>>SNO predictions

  10. Hyperion Hyperspectral data acquisition at MetOP SNOs • Hyperion: Payload on EO-1 with 220 channels covering 0.4 to 2.5 um spectral region, with 30m resolution, scene 7.5km x100km. • SNO data between Hyperion and AVHRR/MetOP will be acquired in collaboration with USGS EROS data center • Hyperion data already acquired for the following sites: • Dunhuang, Qinghai lake, Taihu lake, Greenland, Antarctic/Arctic, Sonora desert (for GOES-R cal/val) Hyperion at Dunhuang cal site

  11. MetOP/AVHRR moon observations AVHRR moon event predictions: • Previous study on AVHRR space clamp in Ignatov, et al 2005. • Recent radiometric analysis with Tom Stone produced mixed results. • Additional instrument info needed regarding oversampling in spaceview. • Will use MetOP/ AVHRR moon observations to refine analysis. • Potentially useful for both calibration and alignment analysis. 12. CRTM Global Forward CalculationsN18/AMSU channels

  13. Summary • MetOP/HIRS is performing well. No major issues. • Small coherent noise in the longwave channels requires further investigation • Further analysis will be performed according to the HIRS OV plan • Hyperion SNO and Moon calibration experiments are planned for AVHRR • CRTM global forward calculations will be performed for MetOP/AMSU
