  4. Your Transcript and Graduation Requirements • In Alpha Homeroom, you received a copy of your Transcript. This will help you to see which classes you have taken and passed AND which classes you still need for graduation. • Look at the chart on the front page of your registration form and check off all the graduation requirements you have met.

  5. Procedures • In period 1A, you will receive your Registration Form and watch this PowerPoint. • At the end of the day, in period 4B, you will turn in your completed Registration Form.

  6. GENERAL INFORMATION • This slide show will guide you through the Registration Process • It is very important to carefully fill out your Registration Form this year so that you will be enrolled in the appropriate classes for next year.

  7. Getting Started • On the front page of your form, fill out your: Grade____ Last Name_______ First Name_______ ID Number___________ Make sure you fill out your current grade as it is listed in SCHOOLMAX. PRINT NEATLY!!

  8. COUNSELORS • Counselors will be available in the Career Center all day, if you need assistance.

  9. Course Requests • During each class today, your teacher will talk to you about your options for next year. • Your 4 Academic Core teachers (English, Math, Science and Social Studies) will sign your form to recommend you for the appropriate class for next year. • You can see the English, Math, Science and Social Studies Classes in the first column on page 2 of your Registration Form.

  10. ENGLISH Graduation Requirements- 4 Credits: English 9, English 10, English 11, English 12 • You should consult with your current English Teacher to obtain a recommendation for your English Class for next year. Your English teacher will sign next to that recommendation. • AP English is offered for grades 11 and 12.

  11. Math • Graduation Requirements -3 Credits Algebra 1 and Geometry are mandatory • Math Courses should be taken in Sequence. Your current Math teacher will go over this with you and sign by the appropriate class for you. • AP Courses in Mathematics are: AP Calculus and AP Statistics. • You should take at least 4 Math Credits if you plan to attend College.

  12. SCIENCE • Graduation Requirements- 3 Credits Biology is mandatory • Your current Science Teacher will sign your form to recommend your next Science Class. • It is suggested that you take at least 4 credits of Science Classes if you plan to attend College after you graduate from Northwestern. • The AP Science classes offered at Northwestern are: AP Biology and AP Environmental Science.

  13. Social Studies • Graduation Requirements- 3 Credits US History, LSN Government, World History • Again, your current Social Studies Teacher will sign your form to recommend your class for next year. • There are 5 AP Social Studies Classes offered: AP US History, AP Government, AP World History, AP Human Geography and AP Psychology.

  14. Filling in Your Schedule • As you obtain signatures for your 4 Academic Core Courses, you should carefully copy the course names, course codes and credits (CR) into the chart on the front of your form. • You have room for 8 Credits (CR) in your Schedule, so you can determine how many electives you should choose. • In the Rank/Comments column, put a G by any class which you need for graduation and add any comments which will be helpful in case there are conflicts with the classes you have selected.

  15. Filling in Your Schedule For example, after filling in her English, Social Studies, Science and Math Classes, this student has room for 3 periods of electives.

  16. Electives • Turn to page 3 of your Registration form to find the electives which are offered at Northwestern. • Place a check by the electives which you would like to request for next year. • Some electives require a teacher signature. These courses are marked with @

  17. Fine Art and Tech Ed Classes • All Students must have one Fine Art credit to graduate. Fine Art Classes are marked with an asterisk * • All Students must have Foundations of Tech as their Tech Ed credit.

  18. Health and PE • All students must have a ½ credit of Health to graduate. • All students must have a ½ credit of Personal Fitness to graduate.

  19. Completer Programs • All students must have a Completer Program to graduate. • Your options are listed on the back page of your Registration Form. • The next slide shows some of your choices. • Keep in mind that most Colleges and Universities require at least 2 years of a World Language for admission.

Electives • Copy the Course Names and Codes of your Electives into the chart on the front of your Form. • In the Rank/Comments column: • rank your electives in order of preference, • put a G by any class which you need for graduation • add any comments which will be helpful in case there are conflicts with the classes you have selected.

  23. Alternates for Electives • We try our best to enroll you in the Electives you have chosen. • However, sometimes electives may fill up or may cause conflicts in your schedule. • Therefore, you must indicate alternates for your electives on the front of your form. ELECTIVE ALTERNATES

Academies AND Programs of Study Northwestern offers 1 Academy and 3 Programs of Study: • Business and Finance Academy • Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Engineering Program • International Studies Program • Jim Henson Visual and Performing Arts Program See the coordinator (listed on the back of your Registration Form) for more information.

Registration Form-Final Check • Make sure you have signatures from your 4 Core Academic teachers. • Make sure you have checked the electives you want to take and you have Teacher Signatures if needed. Elective courses makred with @ require Teacher Signatures. • Look at the chart on the front page … 1. Make sure your classes total to 8 Periods. Remember that English 9, English 10 and most AP Classes are 2 periods. 2.Make sure you have filled out the correct course codes and names for all your course requests. • Make sure you have chosen alternates for your electives. • If you have requested an AP class, make sure you have stapled your completed AP contract to your Registration Form. • Turn your completed form into your Period 4B Teacher today.
