  3. Agreements • Brainstorm: Behaviors that need to happen in order for the entire group to be successful on B-Crew Visits.

  4. What is B-Crew? • Mentoring- seniors that relate to you and give you advice. • Seniors can guide you through your high school obstacles. • Seniors that take the time to get to know you. • Fun activities and learning moments, once or twice a month in your AVID classes.

  5. Why B-crew? • We want Freshman to be successful! • We made mistakes, we DON’T want you to make those same mistakes. • Statistics show that as of 1998, only 45% of freshmen will graduate in 4 years in LAUSD.

  7. Activity:Fast Fingers! 1. Partner up 2. Face your partner with 1 hand behind your back. 3. Count to 3, and show your fingers, 4. First one to add correct numbers wins. 5. 3 tries!

  8. Activity Questions • Did you notice that you developed some strategies to be successful? • What were some of those strategies? • What are some strategies that you have developed in school to be successful? • How did you develop those?

REVIEW: What is it and why? = Mission Statement • B-Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience.  • As positive role models, B-Crew Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshman success. • A source of Banning/Pilot Pride!!
