  2. EGG BabyGrowth and Development Age 1-2 Months • Physical- Firsts and Milestones • 2-3 WEEKs can do tub bath or dish pan when navel heals (cord will fall off) • Lifts chin when placed on stomach • Lifts chest well above surface when placed on stomach • 2 Mo-Depth perception for the 1st time

  3. EGG BabyGrowth and Development Age 1-2 Months • Intellectual- Firsts and Milestones • Gains information thru senses follows objects with eyes – still blurry • Prefers faces rather than objects • Cries to indicate needs • Can distinguish between familiar and unfamiliar

EGG BabyGrowth and Development Age 1-2 Months • Social- Firsts and Milestones • 1 mo- most babies will stop crying when lifted, touched or smiled at. • Cries to indicate needs – wants/demands attention • 2 mo- baby will begin to smile at people • Eyes can follow moving objects • Loves watching people

  5. EGG BabyGrowth and Development Age 1-2 Months • Emotional- Firsts and Milestones Birth thru 1 st month limited to pleasure or satisfaction 2nd mo- shows delight by smiling at funny faces

EGG BabyGrowth and Development Age 1-2 Months • Sleep- at 12 lbs the baby can sleep thought the night, until then they will wake every 3-4 hours to feed around the clock – figure a feeding schedule? • Food-How will baby be fed? bottle or nursing? • Approximately 3 oz per pound of weight • Still no schedule feed on demand • Every 2 hours for nursing and 3-4 for bottle

  7. EGG BabyGrowth and Development Age 1-2 Months • Doctor Visits begin at 6 weeks for “well” check up • There is a recommended “Standard of care” for a child that outlines a specific set of doctors visits and what is inspected at each visit
