HSI Ireland Curriculum Junior Cycle (Years 1, 2, 3) 9 – 11 Subjects Irish*, English*, Mathematics*, Science*, History*, Geography*, Modern European Languages*, Home Economics, Civics/Political/Social Education*, Environmental Studies*, Music, Art/Craft/Design, Materials Technology, Technical Graphics, Technology, Business Studies, Classical Studies, Physical Education, Metalwork The teaching of Careers Education, Sex Education and Religious Education is also statutory. Some subjects taught at Higher, Lower & Foundation Levels *Compulsory

HSI Ireland - Programs • What Programs does HSI Offer? • Junior Certificate & A Leaving Certificate (minimum 2 years for each) • Standard School with Homestay • Aged 13 years and over • Single Sex, Coeducational, Religious, Non-Religious • Private Day School with Homestay • Aged 13 years and over • Single Sex, Coeducational, religious, Non-Religious • Most schools in Dublin (about 70%) • Private Boarding School • From age 11 years (Junior/Prep Boarding) • Single Sex, Coeducational, Religious, Non-Religious

HSI Ireland - Programs • What is NOT included in HSI Programs? • All Schools • Travel to/from Ireland • Local Travel and daily transportation • Mid-term, weekend and other holiday transfers • Accommodation during Christmas holidays • School extras – eg, stationery, school exam fees, sports uniform etc • Transition year fee • Private travel and medical insurance • Pocket/spending money

HSI Ireland - Programs • What is included in HSI Guardianship?** • Legal Guardianship • HSI is responsible for the performance, attendance and behaviour of student • 24/7 emergency assistance • Designated HSI Student Counsellor • Minimum monthly visits to school/homestay/residence • Monthly progress reports • Assistance with transfers, visas, registration etc • Attendance at Parent/Teacher Meetings • HSI Ireland employs 1 Full Time Counsellor per 33 Students (average) ** All Schools require an independent external Guardianship program for all students

  17. HSI Ireland – Application If Applicant has selected one or two schools: • Complete HSI Application Form • HSI English test • Medical Report • School Transcripts • Application Deposit • Other relevant documents All is sent to HSI Ireland (scanned and emailed) Originals sent by mail

  18. HSI Ireland – Application • HSI Sends application to selected school or schools • HSI sends copy of School Offer to agent • Student accepts placement • Fees paid to HSI Ireland – includes School Deposit & Student Account

HSI Ireland – Application • Agent completes and sends Pre-Application Form & English Test to HSI • HSI sends form & English Test to selected schools • HSI receives school opinions (usually one week) • HSI sends opinions & conditions (if any) to Agent • Student selects school • Student completes HSI Application From and any school entry requirements/tests and sends these with Application Deposit • School confirms acceptance (usually 2/3 weeks) • Student pays school fees & school deposit and Student Account (to HSI)

  20. HSI Ireland – Fees Standard School (with Homestay) €12,930 AYP full year Private Day Schools (with Homestay) From €16,110to €21,500 Private Boarding School from €16,700 to €32,000 Private Boarding School (Junior, ages 11 – 13) €24,000 AYP full year

  21. HSI Ireland – Refundable Deposit Standard School €300 per year Private Day Schools €600 per year Private Boarding School €900 per year HSI prepares & sends term statements. If the Refundable Deposit falls below 50% at the end of any term it must be topped up. Refundable deposit is under the control of HSI and may not be used for Pocket Money or other regular student expenses. Unused money is returned to parents within 2 months of departure
