THE ANCIENT ROAD OF THRACIAN WINE • The PROJECT- “The ancient road of Thracian wine” is situated in a region which is geographically located in the central part of Bulgaria. • Within the parameter of the route there are seven small towns and villages with famous mineral springs with a great tourist infrastructure built – over fifty hotels, balneal sanatoria and recreation places. There are also natural and culturally-historical resources for the building of not less then 15-20 hotels.

THE ANCIENT ROAD OF THRACIAN WINE • The pleasant and favorable climatic conditions for the growing of vines are the reason for the building and working of nine wine-cellars with a maximum capacity of 25 000 000 bottles and there is still possibility for another five /two are in the process of building at the moment/. • The pleasant and favorable climatic conditions for the growth of ether-oily crops respectively for the development of perfumery-cosmetic industry in the region are being taken advantage of, using the whole specter: attar, lavender, salvia, oregano, basil along with the necessary distilleries.

  6. aim of the project- 1 • Uniting and establishing business foundations of the exquisite cultural heritage with the people’s lifestyle and creating a new modern and interesting one. • Establishing infrastructure and structure for purposes of tourism which would be registered in the European Union and the world tourist agencies. • Providing work places and revitalizing of the region’s economy. Development of the economics of the region in the sphere of : • Reconstruction of the agricultural and food industry. Development of vine and wine-industry, fruit and cannery production, growth of ether crops and extraction of attar and other ether oils.

  7. aim of the project- 2 • Revealing and displaying the cultural and historical heritage of which there is abundance in the region and providing work places for the people acquainted and studying history of the region. • Development of the energetic agriculture • Hotel business – vacations throughout the whole year at mild climate places, balneology and tourism – rural, eco, wine and culturally-historical ; • Overall increase of the wellbeing of the inhabitants;

Route – The ancient road of Thracian wine begins at the branching of “Trakia” highway /International road E 80/ towards Kalugerovo village, goes through villages - Panagyurishte, Strelcha, Krasnovo and Krasnovski bani, Starosel, Panicheri, towns – Hissar, Bania /Karlovo/, villages Streltzi, Zelenikovo /Brezovo/ and again enters “Trakia” highway, before town Chirpan. • 2. Total length of the route – 166 km

Realization of the project - 1 • Infrastructure – Reconstruction of the road net, repair of the main and side roads, sewerage, road signs, advertising signs, etc. • Hotel and restaurant business, building of souvenir shops, shops for cosmetics, etc. • Checking the possibility for building perfumery and cosmetic enterprises, wine cellars, food factories, development of the hotel business and usage of the mineral water in the region /at the moment the usage is not more than 30%/.

Realization of the project- 2 • Training and giving certificates to people involved in the tourist industry and the reformed agriculture. • Exploration, examination of the terrain and preparation for increase in the growth of: • Ether – oil crops and cultures • Vines • Semi-wild and cultivated berries • Durable fruit crops • Energetic agriculture
