  1. Planning sample T Ricardo Gonçalo, RHUL

  2. What we’re doing… • We are putting together a wish list for: • Signal MC samples to be generated when there are significant menu changes to test • List of triggers to generate these samples that would be useful (mainly for physics signal selection) at 1x1033cm-2s-1 • Boundary conditions would be: • Entire requests =< 1M events and =< 100 different samples

  3. What we’re NOT doing… • Deciding ourselves here and now what, if anything, what will be produced, how, when etc • The lists we produce will be passed to trigger management who will decide • Maintaining this sample represents a gain but also a burden on trigger and on production resources • Benefits and costs must be well understood, this is only the beginning of the discussion • Replacing the need for physics groups to set up the structures to study the effect of higher thresholds etc on D3PDs, AODs etc

  4. Ideally… • Ideally we’ll arrive at a sensible set of signal samples that would: • Make sure physics groups can give quick feedback to the menu coordination on new menus • … after a previous discussion on what the menu should be • Guarantees that last checks can be done on realistic signal samples • Should be another tool in the box, which improves the ATLAS capability to react quickly to changing luminosity etc and increase our physics output
