2. History First public partnership of its kind Started August, 2004 Originally to improve environmental education, environmental health, and environmental management Stewardship of tax dollars Environmental Principles Strengthens Partnership and each Partner’s commitment to sustainability

7. Strategic Vision The Partnership for a Green City envisions Louisville as an innovative national leader for economic sustainability and environmental quality. As members, the Jefferson County Public Schools, Jefferson Community & Technical College, Louisville Government and the University of Louisville make a long-term commitment to lead by example, educate, engage and collaborate with the community.

Alternative Transportation Transportation opportunities Increase public transportation Increase bicycling & walking Increase carpool, school pool or van pool Promote not idling more than 10 seconds Anti-idling policies at partners(An hour of idling time in a 4-cylinder vehicle uses more than a gallon of gasoline and more than 4 gallons in an 8-cylinder vehicle. In a diesel vehicle, idling for an hour consumes approximately a gallon of fuel.)
