Why is this location considered to be a Hot Spot? • The mediteranian basin is considered to be a hot spot because • Thousands of years of human settlement and habitat modification have distincly altered the vegetation of the area. • The hotspot was once covered in rich deciduous and conifer forests, but due to lumbering, the area of the forests have significantly decreased.
