  5. Civil Protection Mechanism • The main role of the Community Mechanism for Civil Protection is to facilitate co-operation in civil protection assistance interventions in the event of major emergencies, which may require urgent response actions.

Mechanism tools – The MIC Monitoring and Information Centre • Situated in Brussels/operational 24/7 • A “one stop shop” for civil protection assistance • Collect, compile and disseminate information and requests • Facilitate coordination of interventions • Facilitation of transport(pooling, grants, broker)

  7. Mechanism tools - CECIS Common Emergency Communication and Information System • Secure communication lines • Facilitate information exchange • Database (resources/modules) • National points of contact • National transport regulations • NOT a tool for field personnel (yet)
