Cheese night • 4/15 – Dad’s Breakfast • 4/17 – Easter Egg Hunt – volunteers please be here for 9:30 to hide eggs. • Favorite jersey/jeans day for $1 • 4-18 – 4-25 – Spring Break – school resumes 4/28 • 4/29 – Family Night – 6:00 for Kindergarten • 4/30 – Discovery Center in Hammond fieldtrip • 5/21 – Mark your calendars! Our Kindergarten closing ceremony with be 5/21 in the afternoon! What We’re Learning • ELA – Unit 9 Amazing Creatures – Key Skills • Review letters Gg, Ww, Xx and Vv – letter and sound • recognition • Reading Story – If the Dinosaurs Came Back • Discuss dinosaurs • Recognize 2-syllable words • Delete phonemes to form new words • Retell a story, summarize; identify main idea and details, • develop fluency • Match the letter /x/ to the sound /x/, letter /v/ to the sound • /v/, letter /g/ to the sound /g/ and the letter /w/ to the sound • /w/ • Write, revise, and edit sentences • Math – Unit 6 – Key Skills – Place Value – • Exploring Teen Numbers • Make a ten • Demonstrate that a teen number is made up of ten and some • extra ones • illustrate numbers 11 -19 in a variety of ways • model one more and one less • visualize a ten • matching a numeral/picture/number sentence/expression • drawing a teen number • write an equation with a teen number • Social Studies/Science • Spring/Butterflies/Dinosaurs Student of the Week Autum Homework • Review sight words each night! • Read your super reader book each night! • Reading: Read “ Ben and Kat” book to your parent. • Writing: Write a sentence telling about a dinosaur if it was in today’s world. Draw a picture to match. • Math: 13. 14 and 15 pages • Language: Phonics: pages 193, 197, 198 and 199. Phonemic Awareness: page 200, Comprehension: page 194 • Return all homework on Fridays. • Show and tell on Friday. • Have a great weekend!
