  2. Adjectives • Words that describe people and things are called adjectives (adjetivos).

  3. Adjectives • In Spanish, most adjectives have both masculine and feminine forms. • The masculine form usually ends in the letter -oand the feminine form usually ends in the letter -a.

  4. Adjectives Masculine adjectives are used to describe masculine nouns. • Marcos esordenado y simpático. • Marcos is organized and friendly.

  5. Adjectives Feminine adjectives are used to describe feminine nouns. • Marta esordenada y simpática. • Marta is organized and friendly.

  6. Adjectives • Adjectivesthat end in -e or –ldescribe both masculine and feminine nouns. • Take a look

  7. Adjectives • Anita esinteligente. • Anita is smart. • Pepeesintelectual. • Pepe is intelectual.

  8. Adjectives • You can’t always depend on identifying adjectives as masculine or feminine by the -oor the -a at the end. You have to memorize!!!!

  10. Plurals If an adjective ends in a VOWEL…add ans • seria serias • Inteligente  inteligentes

  11. Plurals If an adjective ends in aCONSONANT….add -es • Intelectual intelectuales • Trabajador trabajadores

  12. Plurals • I am dark-skinned. • Yo soy morena. • They (all girls) are dark-skinned. • Ellas son morenas.

  13. Plurals • I am hardworking. • Soy trabajador. • We are hardworking. • Nosotrossomostrabajadores.

  14. Try these!  • I am tall. • We are outgoing. • They (all boys) are intellectual.

  15. ¿Tienesrazón? • I am tall. • Yo soy alta/o. • We are outgoing. • Nosotrossomosextrovertidos. • They (all boys) are intellectual. • Ellos son intelectuales.
